Chemical Engineering involves applying fundamental principles of chemistry, physics, and biology to the engineering of processes to make products; a pharmaceutical, an electronic circuit, a nanoparticle, for example. What makes chemical engineering exciting is that the same underlying concepts and approaches can be applied a wide variety of problems including:
Biological processes |
Polymers |
The department offers three different tracks in its undergraduate program to accommodate the wide available range for Chemical Engineers:
* Traditional track
* Pharmaceutical track
* Biology track
For more information go to Undergraduate Program. These programs all participate in the International Engineering Program.
The department offers a graduate program in Chemical Engineering.
Research in the department is sponsored by Federal and State agencies, private foundations, and industry. University partnerships help to provide multidisciplinary opportunities for faculty and students whose interests fall at the boundaries of chemical engineering.
For more information, we invite you to browse our web pages or to contact the department directly.
